The CBFC comes to terms with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, to finally certify Padmavati today

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati has been 2017's most talked about Bollywood film. The film based on the life of Rani Padmini aka Padmavati has been embroiled in controversy for a long time now. And while the audience is waiting for this period drama to release, there is finally some good news for viewers.
A report in DNA suggested that the film has finally been given to the censor board who will be viewing it today. And while this sounds like a sight of relief for the filmmaker,s there is a catch. While initially the film was denied a certification as the needed documents were missing, now the new disclaimers added in the film has raised questions as to how the film will be viewed and certified by the CBFC.
While the latter is something that cannot be ignored, we are happy that the film will soon see the light of the day.
And as Padmavati is gearing up for certification today, exhibitors and distributors who have been waiting for the film to release for a long time seem to be happy. An exhibitor told DNA, “There’s been no official intimation from the producers. Whenever they plan to release it, we will be happy to give them the promised number of screens.” Another source says, “Once the certificate comes, the producers will decide when they want to release Padmavati. As of now, they’re looking at January 5 and January 12.”
The other exhibitor had opposing views. “Padmavati will only release in February next year. It’s looking for a vacant spot so that it gets a longer run at the cinemas.”
Deepika Padukone who essays the role of Padmavati had spoken about the controversy in an earlier interview and had said, "As a woman, as an artist, as someone who has worked and given two years of my life to this movie, I feel hurt, I feel angry, but I also think it is extremely funny that people are reacting like this to a film. I am feeling so many emotions at this point.’’
Padmavati was also sent to the censor board for certification but the CBFC returned the film to Bhansali as the application for certification was incomplete.
Ranveer Singh had said "I am 200 percent with the film and I stand by it as well as Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I also stand by his vision for the film. He had a vision and has done everything to realise it. Vis-à-vis the film, I can just request the audience and everybody else who have concerns about it to wait and watch the film. One shouldn’t doubt Sanjay sir; he is a magnificent film-maker and has tremendous respect for Indian culture and an enormous respect for Indian heritage and he will never intentionally hurt sentiments or do anything wrong. He is a good man with good intentions."
Coming back to the certification fo the film, we hope that the makers announce their release date soon.

Stay tuned.
